About this role
About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
As a Customer Trust Specialist at Anthropic, you'll work on the customer-facing security engagements that build the trust and transparency for large enterprises to leverage Claude with their critical workloads. You'll partner closely with Go-to-Market, Legal, Deal Desk, Product, and Security to make Anthropic's security posture straightforward for customers and their auditors to understand.
When a negotiation, audit, or executive briefing gets beyond what the standard process handles, you'll pick it up and see it through. As you resolve things, you'll turn what you learn into reusable positions, playbooks, and a knowledge-bank content. Building with Claude is a normal part of this job. You'll use it to automate evidence gathering, support internal research and knowledge building, and build tooling for yourself and the team.
This is an individual contributor role for someone who works well independently, doesn't need much structure to be effective, and enjoys being the person who reliably handles hard cases well. If you've been a Head of Security or similar at a smaller company and want to go deep on the customer-facing work without managing a team, this is a good fit.
Key responsibilities
Negotiate security terms and schedules with regulated enterprise customers, exercising judgment on what to hold and what to escalate; when a deal needs a new position, help develop it with Legal
Take on complex customer questionnaires, RFPs, and security assessments that fall outside the standard answer bank, and drive them to completion
Run onsite and remote security audits with strategic accounts: scope the agenda, walk customers through our controls, work through disputed findings, and drive them to documented closure
Speak to our security posture in customer briefings where CISOs ask detailed questions about architecture, data handling, retention, tenancy, and model training, answering accurately and in depth
Contribute to the team's library of Legal-approved positions, the canonical answer bank, and audit runbooks, so that resolutions become repeatable
Build with Claude: contribute to the team's AI-powered questionnaire and RFP automation, automate information gathering across internal systems, and help verify machine-drafted responses before they go out
Help write and maintain customer-facing trust artifacts (white papers, FAQs, Trust Center content, architecture diagrams), and check that security claims match how our systems actually work before they ship
Route control gaps and new-capability asks surfaced by customers to the right Product and Security owners, and follow through to closure
Notice patterns across audits, questionnaires, and negotiations, and surface them to Customer Trust and Security leadership as signal about where customer expectations are moving
Track engagement metrics (escalation volume, remediation follow-through, deal impact) and report on them regularly
Minimum qualifications
Solid security expertise in at least one domain, from engineering to governance, risk, and compliance, with working fluency across the others
Hands-on experience with customer-facing security work, including audits, security questionnaires, contract security terms, or executive briefings with regulated enterprises
Ability to hold a security position under pressure, weigh business needs against security requirements, and recognize when the right answer is to move
Comfortable talking security with a customer CISO and then checking a claim's accuracy with an infrastructure engineer, and committed to telling customers only what you've verified internally
Experience writing positions, playbooks, or standard answers that teammates actually used
Clear written communication, because your positions, runbooks, and summaries are what others work from
Ability to get engineering, Legal, and GRC colleagues to prioritize and close work without having authority over them
Comfortable working independently and building the structure you need
Preferred qualifications
10+ years in security across any domain
Including 3+ years in security leadership, ideally as Head of Security or similar at an early-stage company: you've represented a security program younger and leaner than the enterprise programs evaluating it, and earned CISOs' confidence anyway
Have applied LLMs to security assurance or GRC work, such as questionnaire automation, evidence retrieval, or claim verification
Familiarity with financial services security expectations, including third-party risk programs, regulatory exam readiness, DORA, and PCI DSS
Familiarity with AI-specific t
