ABOUT THE ROLE You'll build the collaborative web application that millions of people rely on to create presentations, documents, and websites with AI. You'll ship features that make real-time collaboration feel effortless, integrate AI capabilities into intuitive interfaces, and ensure the editor performs flawlessly whether someone is creating their first gamma or their thousandth. This role puts you at the core of Gamma's product: our AI-powered editor, built on CRDTs and WebSockets. You'll shape how users interact with AI-generated content in real time, working closely with backend engineers, designers, and product managers to deliver experiences that feel fast, polished, and magical. Our team has a strong in-office culture and works in person 4–5 days per week in San Francisco. We love working together to stay creative and connected, with flexibility to work from home when focus matters most. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Build and evolve the core real-time collaborative editing experience using CRDTs and WebSockets - Ship full-stack features that integrate AI capabilities into intuitive, polished user experiences - Optimize frontend performance so the editor feels fast and responsive at scale - Collaborate with designers to implement high-quality UI interactions and visual details - Contribute to and suggest improvements for open-source projects that are core to Gamma's web application - Design APIs with backend engineers to power seamless collaboration and content creation WHAT YOU'LL BRING - 3+ years building production web applications with strong fundamentals in JavaScript, React, and modern web development - Genuine passion for crafting excellent web experiences, with sharp attention to detail in UI implementation - Experience with real-time collaborative systems, WebSockets, or similar technologies, and familiarity with CRDTs or operational transformation for collaborative editing - A curious, low-ego mindset that matches your technical skill - Prior experience building rich text editors or content editors (Nice to have) COMPENSATION RANGE: The base salary for this full-time position, which spans multiple internal levels depending on qualifications, ranges between $180K - $275K plus benefits & equity. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including but not limited to experience and expertise in the requirements listed above.
