About the role
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Ads Creative team, you will lead the systems that power how creatives are ingested, processed, and delivered across Moloco Ads. Your work will directly impact ad performance, experimentation velocity, and the quality of creative experiences for advertisers and end users on a global scale.
What You Will Do
Lead the design and implementation of core backend services and pipelines for creative ingestion (images, video, HTML, etc.), validation, transformation, rendering, and delivery.
Act as technical lead on medium‑ to large‑scale projects, breaking down ambiguous creative requirements into clear technical designs, milestones, and execution plans.
Architect and evolve services that manage creative metadata, versioning, policy/quality checks, and runtime selection, ensuring high availability and low latency for online ad serving.
Collaborate closely with Product, Design, Ads Infrastructure, and Machine Learning teams to define how creative assets are prepared, scored, and experimented on to maximize advertiser performance.
Build and improve tooling and services that support creative A/B testing, dynamic templates, and performance analytics, enabling rapid iteration on creative strategies.
Work with data and infra partners to design reliable creative data pipelines, ensuring that logging, feature generation, and reporting around creatives are correct, timely, and cost‑efficient.
Drive engineering best practices in testing, observability, reliability, and on‑call operations for creative systems, and proactively address tech debt that limits future innovation.
Mentor and support junior engineers, providing design guidance, review, and context that help them grow their skills and impact.
Basic Qualifications
BS/MS in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
8+ years of software engineering experience, with significant backend or platform experience in production systems.
Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as Java, Go, Kotlin, C++, or Python, and experience building large‑scale distributed systems or high‑throughput services.
Strong system design skills, with a track record of owning and leading complex services or features end‑to‑end, across multiple components or teams.
Deep experience designing, building, and operating web services / APIs and working with relational or NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Bigtable, BigQuery).
Proven experience acting as a technical lead: scoping projects, defining technical approaches, coordinating with other engineers, and delivering on time with high quality.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross‑functional partners (Product, Design, Data, ML, Operations) and to influence product and technical decisions.
Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English, including the ability to explain complex technical topics to diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building systems for creative or media processing pipelines, such as ingestion, validation, transformation, optimization, or content moderation.
Experience with real‑time ad serving or recommendation systems, especially where creatives or assets are selected dynamically at runtime.
Familiarity with digital advertising / AdTech, including how creative quality and variation impact performance, experimentation, and advertiser outcomes.
Hands‑on experience with cloud and big‑data technologies (e.g., GCP, BigQuery, Dataflow, Kafka, Beam/Spark) and integrating them into production services.
Experience designing experiment and measurement frameworks for creatives (e.
