Job Overview: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Database Engineer with 6 months to 1 year of experience in managing databases in either on-premises or AWS cloud environments. The ideal candidate should possess foundational knowledge of database administration, cloud services, infrastructure automation, monitoring, and operational support. The role involves supporting the provisioning, configuration, monitoring, maintenance, backup, security, and optimisation of database platforms such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, and AWS RDS (PostgreSQL, Aurora PostgreSQL). You will work closely with senior database engineers, application teams, DevOps engineers, and cloud infrastructure teams to ensure reliable and efficient database operations. Key Responsibilities: ​ Assist in provisioning and managing database infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles. Support database configuration, deployment, and automation using Ansible playbooks. Administer and maintain self managed (hosted on aws ec2) databases and AWS managed databases such has Elasticache, RDS, Opensearch, DynamoDB, Nepture., Monitor database health, performance, availability, and capacity using Datadog, AWS CloudWatch, Grafana and other monitoring tools. Perform routine database administration tasks including user management, backup verification, patching, upgrades, and maintenance activities. Assist in identifying and resolving database performance issues, alerts, incidents, and service requests. Support database backup, restore, disaster recovery, and high availability configurations. Participate in database migration and upgrade projects. Maintain database security standards, access controls, and compliance requirements. Create and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures. Collaborate with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams during application deployments and troubleshooting activities. Participate in on-call support rotations as required. Mandatory Skills: ​ Basic administration knowledge of PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, or AWS RDS. Experience managing databases in on-premises or AWS cloud environments. Exposure to Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and Ansible for configuration management. Knowledge of Linux administration, SQL, database backup & recovery concepts. Experience with monitoring tools such as Datadog and AWS CloudWatch. Understanding of database performance monitoring, high availability, security, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with Git, scripting (Shell/Bash or Python), and DevOps automation practices. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Qualifications and Education Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. 6 months to 1 year of experience in database administration, cloud operations, DevOps, or infrastructure support. Internship experience in database or cloud technologies will be considered. ·AWS Cloud Practitioner / AWS Associate certification is an added advantage. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Good verbal and written communication skills.
