Role We are looking for a seasoned Staff Software Development Engineer to join our Product Security Engineering department. This is a hybrid role based in Bangalore, reporting to the Senior Director, Software Engineering. You will join our Internal Security Automation team, contributing to securing the world’s largest cloud security platform. You'll bring your vision and passion to a team of experts who enable organizations worldwide to harness speed and agility through a cloud-first strategy. What you’ll do (Role Expectations) Design, build, and operate foundational security services, AI security agents, and integrations with internal systems to empower Zscaler engineering teams to ship secure software Implement scalable APIs and microservices in Go for seamless system communication Collaborate with architects and product owners to ensure cloud services align with company standards Participate in on-call rotations to resolve production issues while continuously improving system reliability Who You Are (Success Profile) You thrive in ambiguity. What We’re Looking for (Minimum Qualifications) 7+ years of professional software development experience, including 3+ years focused on developing backend cloud systems using Python or Go Proficiency in building web services using REST, GraphML, or gRPC and managing secure endpoint communication Experience with containerized application development and orchestration using Kubernetes Proficiency in designing, deploying, and operating services and applications on AWS including familiarity with IaC frameworks such as Terraform or CDK What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications) Familiarity with full-stack development, frontend development, and DevOps automation workflows Proficiency in the use of coding assistants such as Google Code Assist, Windsurf, Cursor, or Claude code on production codebases Hands-on experience building AI agents with Large Language Models (LLMs), including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) #LI-Hybrid #LI-PM5 At Zscaler, we are committed to building a team that reflects the communities we serve and the customers we work with.
