About this role

About the Company   At Torc, we have always believed that autonomous vehicle technology will transform how we travel, move freight, and do business. A leader in autonomous driving since 2007, Torc has spent over a decade commercializing our solutions with experienced partners.  Now a part of the Daimler family , we are focused solely on developing software for automated trucks to transform how the world moves freight.  Join us and catapult your career with the company that helped pioneer autonomous technology, and the first AV software company with the vision to partner directly with a truck manufacturer.  Meet the team:   The Release department plays a critical role in product engineering. The teams are responsible for ensuring the safe and successful deployment of autonomous vehicles, by implementing rigorous testing processes, using advanced testing tools to collect data and analyze the system performance. What you’ll do: The Sr. Systems Triage Engineer is responsible to evaluate performance data and test results collected from on road testing, simulation testing and off-road target hardware testing, creating value add analysis and trends as feedback to development teams.  In addition to traditional embedded system triaging, the role will require techniques to investigate training data anomalies for machine learned components. A successful candidate will have experience performing thought leadership, cross-function collaboration, and driving initiatives to transform and evolve the system triage and forensics processes, particularly in machine learning.   A robust background in large-scale, safety-critical systems and/or software development processes within complex development systems is necessary to guide company engineering procedures. Work with your team, as well as collaborate across teams, to provide a responsive feedback loop to development teams. Perform triaging and analysis of issues discovered at the system level including sensor input issues, logic issues, embedded resource issues and training data issues. Triaging is required across different test environments including hardware-in-loop (HIL), Simulation for behavior and perception and Vehicle level closed-course and public road work. Perform triage, tracking, and reporting of metrics for test escapes Provide system performance metrics based on data collected by our self-driving truck Combine environment observations with event logs to determine avenues for investigation Report on software quality using concepts such as defect ratios and software heatmap viewpoints Track and follow-up on high priority and blocking defects, ensuring continued progress Create tooling requirements for efficient triage and root cause analysis, metric reporting and visualization with the goal of quickly extract key learnings and trends related to software maturity Establish and maintain defect management process, defect workflow and tracking including definition of bug ticket quality and ability to understand state of defects. Contribute to a rapid integration and deployment schedule for self-driving software stack with consistent releases to extended testing teams.
